Sate Grilled Cheese Noodles

If you are going to have instant noodles, pimp it up. This is my pimped up version using pantry and easy ingredients you can pick up cheaply from the supermarket. It is a good way to use up leftovers too, that limp lettuce or last night’s takeaway! Try to balance it with vegetables or protein and contrasting textures. Enjoy!

SERVES 1
PREP TIME: 5 mins
COOK TIME: 7 mins

INGREDIENTS

1 heaped tablespoons of Jimmy’s Sate

1 egg yolk

1 tbs mayonnaise

1 clove garlic, crushed

½ tsp sugar

½ pack of noodle seasoning

1 pack of Chicken Flavoured Instant Noodles of your choice

Water for boiling noodles

Toppings

2 frankfurters or slice of ham or leftover roast meats

1 slice hamburger cheese

2 babygem leaves or handful of salad leaves

2 - 3 cornichons or 1 gherkin, chopped (optional)

1 spring onion, finely diced (optional)

2 -3 nori snack sheets (seaweed), torn or cut into smaller pieces (optional)

METHOD

STEP 1

Preheat grill to high.

STEP 2

In a bowl, place Jimmy’s Sate, egg yolk, mayo, crushed garlic, sugar, and the noodle seasoning. Give it a good mix and set aside.

STEP 3

Cut the frankfurters into halves.

STEP 4

Bring a pan of water to boil and cook the noodles according to the pack instructions. Drop in the frankfurters. Slightly undercook the noodles if you prefer it a little al dente. Remove the frankfurters onto a plate and drain the noodles.

STEP 5

Reserve 100ml of the hot cooking water and pour onto the sauce mix in the bowl. Mix well.

STEP 6

Add the noodles and coat them with the sauce.

STEP 7

Top with a slice of cheese and grill in high for 1 minute till the cheese is melted.

STEP 8

Top with frankfurters and other toppings as you pleased.

STEP 9

Mix well before devouring in your cosiest jumper!
